Today, there is a deserved fervor of honoring vets blasting our eyes, hearts and minds. Yet our mercurial love/disgust of vets (fighting capital) is historical and cyclical. We honored vets by giving them the benefits, ed, and HC to fight and protect YET we cyclically failed them as a mature society by discarding them like damaged plastic toy soldiers. Why? Because these damaged soldiers do not fit or meet the general societal human capital profile needs or wants.
Reflection... From WWI through Vietnam, soldiers were drafted as fighting human capital & told to go and fight for your country. Thus these fighters/protectors were again viewed with this love/disgust of general society, because they were doing their mandatory job only to become damaged mentally and physically in protecting/fighting for our nation. Upon their return businesses were not prepared to handle the onslaught of the returning damaged human capital & neither was the general non-damaged society, we all wanted things to pick-up where they left-off perfect. The perfect storm was drawn, damaged fighters yearning for acceptance & jobs while the general societal capital wanted no disruption of their new paradigm. Therefore this storm was treated & labeled as untenable, unproductive and too costly for society, and we sloughed off the damaged human capital to the vet hospital or other institutions, paid all the glossy billboard organizations to take care & fix, we felt good, complete and proud.
Today's storm... The only change of the current wars/conflicts/disputes/from previous times, is these are fueled with volunteer fighting capital. These volunteers came from the massive populations of presently distressed human capital pools seeking money to make ends meet with the promise of benefits, ed, & HC and jobs upon return. Now the story repeats like the OUROBOROS eating its tail however today they are welcomed with REAL broken promises of benefits, ed, HC & jobs for this new distressed & damaged human capital general society has no REAL solutions.
So, as we wave our flags and thank all vets loudly, remember this is one day & thanks is abound. YET one day does not improve the life for the distressed & damaged human capital or general society life's if we cannot commit supporting to our distressed & damaged human capital PERIOD. Similar to the OUROBOROS, our mercurial attitudes for ALL damaged human capital is amplified on this Veterans Day and forever for this writer.

CharlemagneJones,
ReplyDeleteWhile agreeing with you on most points, there are also those few proud Americans who enter the military because of a love and honor for our country. I am wondering how they fit into this equation?
Unquestionably, they are respected and honored by many. Its not a question of love of country, its more a point of their country loving them back & general societal disdain & lack of care for any damaged capital. Our HC for helping distressed-damage is poor to nil, jobs made available, poor-nil - ED is way out of financial reach. As the cherry on our love of perfect media ready - tv gives you a constant barrage of info telling us we are distressed and damage, BUY our product to get sane & perfect.
ReplyDeleteOr at least this is what I am experiencing here in Gab.
